We believe that humility, reflection, repentance and right-action in the coming days by all Christian people throughout the Southern States will bring about a profound turning in our lives, our families, our communities, our States and our country. Please read, consider and begin daily to pray this prayer:
“O Lord, who reigns in majesty above the whole earth, who makest the sea to rise up and fall down, turn now thy face unto us. How long will you make us a byword among those who hate thy Name? We see the coming destruction; shall we be destroyed with them? Are not there thousands amongst our people who love thee and long for thy ways? Hear then the cry of thy people, that we may again have a country of our own; spare us thy judgment now manifesting upon the United States. We have sinned grievously; must we also be cursed alongside thy enemies?
We repent, Oh Lord, of our defiance, self-indulgence, hatred and vice. We repent, Oh Lord, of our arrogance, faithlessness and greed. We repent, Almighty God, for we have loved money more than thee. We have sacrificed our children unto death for 40 years. We have worshipped false gods. We have returned evil for good. The stench of our sin is grievous unto us and we cannot erase it from our souls.
Oh God, we beg of thee, have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father.
We humbly beseech thee, Almighty God, forgive us our sins; free us from the tyranny of that hated nation. Let us return unto thee and Thy Covenant in this land, as thou didst with our fathers and we will again make our schools houses of prayer, we will never again sacrifice our children to torturous death within their mother’s womb and our congregations will fill thy churches in the sure knowledge that God hath set his Southern people free. Hear us O Lord and hearken unto us, we pray. Surely we shall praise thy Name, yea even thy Name above the whole earth, singing, God has saved the South!
O God, make speed to save us. O Lord, make haste to help us. Grant this our prayer, O Lord, for the honour of our Advocate and Mediator, Jesus Christ. Amen.”
